okay… here is the link to my music page on facebook, which is different than my profile over there.
Emily Jones Music at Facebook
the profile thing seems to be unavoidable… ? you can’t have a music page without a profile? i dunno.
i’ve looked around facebook a bit and i like some of the fun things you can do there, neat. great. awesome. but the layout… um. well, alright. its very wordy.
i like words, i love words, but in a web format when you’re looking up information or trying to interact with others it is lame to have to sift through tables and tables of junk.
streamlined, organized, and visually appealing (kind of like my blog here, right? ha!) works for me.
but kudos to facebook for providing a free place for musicians to play. yay.
anyway, please come visit, listen to some tunes, and add yourself as a fan. that would be super swell.

UPDATE: i’ve figured out that an artist can have a music facebook page, but i can’t figure out if i can just have that and not have a personal profile there. any facebookers out there that might know?
anyway… here is my music facebook page, please add me, or become a fan, or however that works. i’d love to see you there.

or go here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Emily-Jones/14076722394
hopefully in a couple days i’ll have some music up over there as well, i’m awaiting “verification” of my identity. heh.

ugh. okay, here we go.
i need another web hangout like i need another hole in my head, but yes… i DO have a facebook account. i’ve had it for years, actually. i don’t even know why i had signed up, i think i needed to see something so had to create an account? then thought it was lame so didn’t do anything with it… whatever.
what is facebook for? i can’t figure it out, can i post my music on it? it doesn’t seem quite as dynamic as myspace, at least, not as far as i can tell.
facebook, what an odd name. seems like something that maybe models and actors would be into.
ANYWAY…
i’ve had so many emails from people asking me if i was on facebook, or if i would join facebook… so fine. okay. here it is. i don’t know what to do with it, maybe you can tell me?
click on the badge below and i believe it will shoot ya on over to my facebook.
how many times have i typed the word “facebook” in this post? way too many.

note: i believe you have to absolutely must be a facebooker to view my profile. they be all “exclusive” like that. i guess.
unless there is a public setting i haven’t found yet.
if you’re a facebooker feel free to enlighten me. thanks!

here is a little slideshow of some of the things blooming in my gardens right now.
(i can’t seem to embed the show here so there is a link to it at the bottom of this post.)
as the gardens fill in through summer i will take some more pictures for you… what you’ll see now are a few examples of what is awake in April and May up here at my house in the endless mountains in northeastern Pennsylvania, USA.
i included a shot overlooking my home from the back gazing to the west… you can see what it looks like out here and just how many trees i live in. you can also see the very tippy top of my house and the old chimney.
if you stand in my back garden and look up the hill to the east you see the cemetary across the road. it is a gorgeous cemetary! on the other side of it is a huge drop-off to the great Susquehanna river.
for now though… enjoy.

so i’m reading while listening to Russian Circles and come across this quote from Albert Einstein:
“The belief in an external world independent of the perceiving subject is the basis of all natural science. Since, however, sense perception only gives information of this external world or of ‘physical reality’ indirectly, we can only grasp the latter by speculative means. It follows from this that our notions of physical reality can never be final. We must always be ready to change these notions - that is to say, the axiomatic basis of physics - in order to do justice to perceived facts in the most perfect way logically.” -Albert Einstein
fascinating.
amusing.
fancy.
correct.
basically what (i believe) Mr. Einstein was saying here is : keep an open mind.
Russian Circles, i’d like to note, is an incredibly talented band from Chicago.
i highly recommend that you check them out. listen to the song “Carpe“.

stupid busy over here, so good!
lot’s going down in the Jones Camp — good times.
here is a quick list:
1. music - involved in a couple (four) projects. a couple of them are in a “wait phase”, can’t wait to share them with you. a real eye-opener these will be.
two projects of my own going down at the moment, a lot of developing in the works. i know that makes no sense. really enjoying it though, have some new ideas and new people i’m working with.
2. tried some new strings - ick. may write about them later, but i don’t like to bash products so most likely not. i’ll just hint and say that i don’t like coated strings, even ones that say they don’t feel like they’re coated. they just can’t compare. i’ll stick to my favs, which are Dean Markley Alchemy for acoustic. electric strings… meh, not really partial but i like DR a whole lot.
3. outside - i am a hardcore outdoor girl so i have been taking advantage of the nice weather as much as possible. the gardens are blooming and i have more work to do in them as we are expanding some more this year. the iris are about ready to bloom, as are the rhodies.
it is aaaalmost topless Jeep weather, and i can’t wait to get out camping. just picked up some new Keen hikers and i heart them A LOT. yes, i bought the men’s. even with my slender lady feet they are not too wide at all. they’re waterproof too, which is really good because i’m in and around rivers often.
4. some of you know that recently i almost lost one of my kitties. we have three cats; a tiger female (Zorya) and two black boys (Osiris and Merlin). Merlin was hit by a car six weeks ago and almost lost his life. thanks to his vet who has amazing orthopedic skills, he was put back together. it’s been a long recovery for Merlin but he’s almost done! today he had the pin removed from his femur that was holding his leg in place.
amazing… and crazy! he had to celebrate his one year birthday in a dog crate, of all places, but he’s none worse for the wear. he has already been tearing around, though after today’s surgery i think he’ll take it easy for a few days to recover.
5. and … tried the new mint Indiana Jones themed M&Ms… hmm. weird. i am not sure why mint was chosen for these special M&Ms… they are strange. and crunchy. kind of like a cross between an altoid, a junior mint, and a rice crispy. oddly addicting, but they make your mouth and tummy feel strange.
(pushes bowl of mint M&Ms away)
6. watched “The Mist” with my incredibly fantastic buddies over the weekend … hahaha! fantastic ending.
i love it when horror movies end horribly. the pharmacy scene was awesome.
i won’t say anything about the ending, in case you haven’t seen it, but… yeah. real nice.
cheers.

sending a Thank You out to Brenda at Cast-On : a podcast for knitters for playing my song “I Want To Be Wonder Woman” on her show, which she describes as a “death-march of fun”. awesome.
you may remember another knitting show that picked me up recently. i am still finding this highly fascinating, this knitting world. and apparently they are wonder woman fans to boot, thank you for including my music in your shows.
yesterday i thought of you, Brenda and Cheryl, as i was attending an Arts Fest and saw some beautifully knitted and woven wearable art. what talent!
Brenda - Thank You, and best of luck to you speaking on the cruise. you’ll do wonderfully. haaaa… love your distraction plan.

since opening my Nimbit digital realm i’ve had visitors drop by and purchase my music. i hope your experience was easy and enjoyable.
i would like to Thank You very much for your support! it really means a lot to me, and it helps me to do what i do. i make music to share with you and it warms my heart to see your response - whether that be through a comment, an email, taking advantage of free downloads, or purchasing my music.
old school players play in the street with their guitar cases open, hoping that an appreciative ear from a passerby will prompt them to toss in a coin or two.
it is amazing in this new age that the net can help us humble music-folk bring the world our art. your cyber coin-toss is still every bit as appreciated as if you had really tossed your appreciation right into my guitar case. (which smells like chocolate, by the way).
Thank You Thank You.
Thank You for letting me sing and play for you.

my favorite part about spring is discovering all the new things that have awoken each day. it’s like a present, and every day is an adventure.
just last week all of the flowering cherry trees burst out in bloom, the tulips breathed open, and the forsythia (which reminds me of popcorn for some reason) spread out like yellow blankets. gorgeous!
i look out from the upstairs windows at the mountains and over the borough in which i live and see great sweeps of pale green, pink, purple, and white.
i was delighted today to see that my white lilac tree is barely starting to flower and it’s scent is just beginning to perfume the air (most notably my kitchen as it is right outside the kitchen window).
last week the white lilac was still fast asleep and now she is peeking. i have a purple lilac on the other side of the house that seems to be a few days behind.
i can’t wait for the lily of the valley to bloom.
here i am outside with my jumbo Takamine and the white lilac tree. at the ground you can see the broad leaves of the iris. this iris bed i thinned out greatly at the end of last season. my house is 131 years old ( a Victorian) and i wonder how long they have been there? could these iris be the great descendents of an original bed? i’m curious as to what they will do this year, last year they were huge but somewhat sparse since the grounds had been sans gardener for some time.
it brings me great joy to work in the gardens here and i look forward to sharing the magic with you.
